Hmmm i see Nicey's schizophrenic, psychopathic state of paranoia and self loathing is now so strong he is talking to himself and answering his own questions .... Allardyce must be staying after all

Just to shut the persistent idiot up, please can we win a few games, seeing he was very quiet when we were 4th in the league. Or was it then he was taking his medication?

This is great news!

What a shame so many West Ham supporters have been on his back and have a lot of dislike for him.

It's strange that many of those accuse people of hating the club for daring to knock Allardyce, Nolan, Carroll or Mark Curtis.

A fair wage for one of the best centre halves in the Premier League outside the elite about to enter his prime.

Fantastic news, simple as that.

Fucking shit load of dough for an average center half

And as for the Allardyce saying there's no chance he'll stay and the Twitter stuff, all that's designed to do is put more and more pressure on him to sign- and probably for less than they've agreed now. It's pretty cynical to do that but I guess that's why Sully's got his empire and I don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of.

If I was a footballer from the other side of the planet and about to make a decision about a deal that could potentially last me until the end of my career I'd probably keep my options open too.

He's a great player who simply gets his head down and does what he does best- play football.

Sure he's probably been touted all over the place by his agent who stands to make a bundle if he can make Reidy move clubs but that's just what agents do.

He wasn't born in the shadow of the stadium and I can't see any problem in taking his time signing on the dotted line. I'm sure if Chelsea came in and offered four times what we're offering him he'd have gone, but what current member of our squad wouldn't?

Winston had nothing to lose at all by taking his time resigning- I'm just delighted he did.

Anyway it's your choice, think we're a two bob club that our best defender wanted to leave or be happy that in a world where players like him are changing clubs for twenty-odd million quid he's decided he loves West Ham and wants to stay?

Remember too that he knows much more about where the club is leading to than you or me. He's sat down with Sully and Sully's sold the vision of the way he intends the club to progress over the next five years and Winston Reid has bought in.

How can this be anything other than great news?

I agree, Jenks and Diarra and it's looking good for next season.

I understand that Diarra is still not a sure thing but he improves us, no doubt about that.

Superstar midfielder and a new manager and we are looking good for next season.

I seem to remember Gold or Sullivan, may of even been the embarrasing Sullivans boy saying Reid REFUSED contracts.

I am not knocking the club or player I am just stating that on the looks of things we were his second choice after his other options fell through.

Have to keep jenkinson now too

A good young back four in Cresswell reid Tomkins and jenks would be amazing. What we need is a really good holding midfiekder to protect them and allow Cresswell/Jenkinson to get forward. Kouyate is probably our best one, but I think he's even better further forward.

Perhaps Diarra in the summer?

"it was widely reported"

No, there was a lot of idle speculation from people who didn't know, including bfs.

1993

fact is he refused a couple of offers, whilst it may have been reported that he wanted to listen to otgher offers by the sage of whufc that is hugh southon that doesnt make it true. also, listening to what other offers are out there doesnt mean you want to leave, he could merely have been strengthening his position by going back to sullivan with what he found out was his market worth.

as has been mentioned by many on here, the player himself never said he wanted to leave, he didnt suggest he was unhappy. all thats happened is a contract negotiation has been ongoing and kept private by the player and his agent for the most part and he has eventually signed.

i fail to believe that he could not have commanded more elsewhere if he had really wanted to, the mere fact that there would have been no transfer fee means he would have got a big whack as a signing fee elsewhere. sadly we seem to have a lot of fans that want to knock the club and their players no matter what.

Superb news. Now its time to sign Jenko, another pacy midfielder and a striker

Hammers1993 5:25 Thu Mar 5
Re: Reid Set To Sign New Deal ! SIGNED
Although I agree to an extent Trevor it was widely reported he kept refusing the offer as he did want to listen to offers from other clubs.

So he did want to leave, he just didn't get the offer he was looking for, so has decided to stay put.

Just feels a bit like we were 2nd choice.

Oh well, he has signed now, so moving forward I hope his form improves and he has many good moments in the next few years for us.
